Josh began practicing as a ENT specialist in 2017, and after a short initial stint on the Gold Coast returned to South Australia for 12 months to take up consultant posts at a number of large teaching hospitals, including the Women’s and Children Hospital in Adelaide. A fellowship in Little Rock, Arkansas under the tutelage of Professor John Dornhoffer beckoned and saw Josh uproot his young family for a year of intense study and skill acquisition in the field of Otology (ear surgery). Upon his return to Australia in 2019, Josh has again returned to the Gold Coast / Northern Rivers region- this time for good.

Josh considers Otology to be his passion, encompassing the simple (grommet insertions), routine (exostoses surgery) and complex (cholesteatoma removal, stapes surgery, cochlear implantation etc..). Despite this, he maintains strong clinical and academic ties to the field of Rhinology (nasal and sinus surgery), having completed a PhD on the topic of Chronic Rhinosinusitis during his training years under the supervision of Prof PJ Wormald in Adelaide. He continues to be a regular reviewer for the American Journal of Rhinology and Allergy.

Josh consults on the north Gold Coast fortnightly. He spends the rest of his time either on outreach trips (to Katherine, NT and Port Lincoln, SA) primarily treating ear disease in Aboriginal children, at the Lismore Base Hospital, or at the beach with his family.
